Gold is a hedge against inflation. There is no inflation thus gold will fall.
Gold is up on temporary terms right now. Instability can cause gold to rise and so can sharp currency fluctuations. There are expecations of a fed cut, perhaps a 50 cut. But the bottom line is we are in a deflationary environment, muchless an inflationary one. I owned DZZ until it sold it in the 36 range, my next position will probably be short again. When the currency markets calm down and or market confidence resumes, even marginally, the floor will fall out of gold prices.

S&P just stuck the knife into AIG with the credit downgrade.

Dow futures down over 100 points on this news.

An AIG collapse and less then favorable numbers by GS and we might see P/E's revert to the historical mean very quickly. At this point I'm wondering what a fed cut can even do. Their own balance sheet is coming under scrutiny, they are supposed to have 800 billion, and well over 500 billion is already disposed of. My personal account was flat within 50 dollars of yesterday's close which is interesting but not surprising. I haven't made in trades in it since thursday I think.

09 will be worse. People still have jobs, for now at least. That won't last.

EEV. Good hedge against commodities and it has been moving right along side SKF lately. It's a wild one though, FYI.

We need to start figuring out how to take a strategic position against deflation in the U.S. As unemployment rises [some estimates are already over 10%], it will start hitting the news.
