Avoid the TBTFs. Credit Union. Small community bank. Best bet, PM's stuffed under you mattress

I would not make a decision on a bank based on getting money to open an account, like others said , the money is coming from someplace. Credit unions offer great financing rates and as mentioned i have never paid any BS fees. Some banks charge an ATM usage fee, fees for every check written etc.. If I use ATMs that are in network I use them for free, no fee from the ATM or from the Credit union. That alone saves me at least $400 a year concidering the average ATM fee is 2 to 3 bucks.. Been with my credit union since 1994

Another vote for credit unions. I've been with Marine Federal for almost 10 years now!

if you're in the Bay Area, go with any number of Credit Unions. Star1 or TechCU are good choices.

. . . if you really want to go to a bank, then try Borel or First Republic.
