Track Day
#3
This could work a couple of ways.
Rent a Road Course for a day. Exclusive use for S2000's and others, NSX's? You get corner workers, instructors if necessary and safety equipment. And you can limit the number of cars, depending on what you want the average cost per driver to be. This would require an organizer and an active group of owners. Otherwise someones going take a bath dollarwise.
Or....... Both road circuits I'm familiar with in this area have open track events once a month. Run what you brung, everybody welcome. You can have problems with this in that all level of cars and drivers can be on the track at the same time and it can get crowded/dangerous. Cost is the advantage. HPT is charging $35.00 for four 15 minute sessions. MAM, south of Omaha, is $125.00 to $145.00 for unlimited track time 3:00 pm to dark.
The MAM course is in great shape, no bumps, and has runoff areas. No concrete walls to hit. Heartland is closer in Topeka.
For what it's worth I think the open track is the way to go at first. See what the participation level is. MAM would probably be the better choice of track. More money and 2.5 hours north of KC, but that tends to limit the number of cars on track. The day I was there there were times I had the whole track to myself. This is a good thing!!
You think maybe we can get 10 cars from KC to do this?

MAM is open track every Wed. 3 to dark if the track has not been reserved. Right now it looks like every Wed. thru July is open. For folks that have not run a track event before they require an orientation session. These are only on the first and third Wed. . Don't know but probably would be some newbies involved so these sessions would be better so all could be involved. Orientation is about 1 hour classroom and then you ride/drive with an instructor until their satisfied your not a threat to yourself or anybody else. This isn't a gimme. The day I was there they sent a guy home for aggressive driving. Lost his fee too I think.
Checkout their site. Search Mid America Motorplex or MAM. Checkout the calender and Road course menus.
I'm good for any date but Jul 6. Vacation!!!
Don't know if 10 cars is realistic given that you and I are only ones talking about it.
