Default help with a route please

At the airport heading to denver. Going to purchase a car & drive it back to Chiacgo today. Not sure whether to go through kansas city then up through St. Louis to Chicago. The other route is to Omaha then east to chicago which is shorter. Looking for the safest roads possible also to avoid the worse possible weather. How is the ride from Denver to KC? From KC to STL? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kansas has very good roads compared to many other states. We also don't have any bad weather yet. Only low temperatures, no ice or snow. I'd say it's probably a toss up. Interstate highway speed in Nebraska is 75, Kansas is 70. Nebraska would probably be faster, but I don't know what their weather is like up there. Good luck!

There is usually less traffic on I-80 and you can drive faster. I also usually do not see many cops on I-80, where as if you are driving through Kansas you will see more and more when you pass Junction City and get closer to Kansas City. There is also a toll road.

The weather through Nebraska might be worse than Kansas though, just check weather.com before you go.

Omaha has been getting hammered with snow.

Kansas City has not.

I'd say drive through KS and MO.

You can find the status of the interstates usually on the state department of transportation's website. If the roads look okay in Nebraska it would cut down on a lot of time. There can be a large amount of traffic in Kansas City and some traffic on I-70 to St. Louis. Plus... who the heck wants to drive on Missouri roads!?! blah
