Just had a long argument with the service department in Honda AD.

Last September I brought the car in for the 10,000 service and I was given the choice between AED 450 standard service or AED 490 for an synthetic oil which will last me 20,000 km. For me it sounded a bit far fetched but the service advisor "Nair" was highly recommending it "We use it for Volvo".

A couple of days back I was speaking to Mohamad "Monsterdog" and he warned me about the crap, nonsense and ignorance of the people working at TE. So I called up "Nair" today and asked him what oil do they use for the S2000; he said Mobil-1 0W40 and it's good for 10,000km. What oil did you use for my last oil change in Sep 07? He said 0W40!

So why the f*** did you advise me to change my oil every 20,000km. Of course he fully denied saying anything in this regard and justified the extra charge as a mistake in the invoice.

It was a long argument also with the service manager.

I was trying for the last week to bring my car in for the 20,000 service (without oil change, but now with), the earliest was next Saturday. After this argument I managed to get it in for tomorrow.

Lesson learnt not to trust the dealer, cuz they know crap. Pre-sale and after-sale they know crap. You can't choose the car's color cuz Japan sends them in random! They don't know if it has xenon or not (wasn't me who asked this question btw). They don't know what the breakin procedure is. They don't even know what the term "engine-breakin" means. I've been through this crap.

hehe...i hate the TE service..been using it since 2005 though..and i hate the body shop even more!stil havent gotten my cars dents removed( I HATE U PAJERO DRIVIN IDIOT!)
but my insurance company set me up with this place called Polimar in barsha which is supposed 2 be excellent..will drop it off soon

On a slightly different note..is there anywhr in Dubai i can get the car properly detailed? like waxing polishing etc where they wont screw it up? Emarat seems a little shady to me.

I'm not familiar with Dubai but you can try and call up Roberto from Meguiar's on 0508810953 and ask him which garages he recommends.

Otherwise I'm sure the Dubai boys can indicate something.

I was very confused about the oil for my VW phaeton (and for the S2000!!),The manual recommends 0w-30 or (0w-40 for hot climates) but nothing mentioned about 5w-50 syth. Or 10w-60 , I was using 0w-40 and I have 10w-60 racing oil which will be good for hot climates and heavy loads.

Last week I went to Volkswagen Phaeton factory (The transparent factory) in Dresden, Germany. I asked them about the oil and hot climates. The customer manager said I can

Got my car serviced today..Was getting "VIP treatment" by the service manager, what ever that means, and got a discount!

Another stupid thing happened at Honda..After washing my car they noticed a scratch I have on the front bonnet (somebody at work sat on it while it was parked and caused a deep scratch, probably wearing jeans).

So what does the workshop do

They pick up heavy duty tissue paper, splatter tons of polish on the area and start working it in

The result was a bit freaky as you would imagine..and I don't want to say what I did next to them
