Where are you located?

Have you checked the oil level?

So the oil pressure light has been coming on when i come to a stop and the revs are low. I parked the car the other night and everything sounded fine. Go to start it up a few days later and its making a awful noise. A loud ticking/thumping sound is coming from the engine so I cut it off. Take the car over to a local mechanic and he tells me there is metal in the oil and I should prob get a new engine.

While im no the most mechanically inclined person I do know that there is prob a better way to fix this problem instead of just replacing the engine. They werent exactly sure what the problem is unless they tear it apart and charge me a bunch of labor cost. So I called my dads friend who has a shop up in PA and he agreed to fix it for me on the cheap. He reuilt the engine in a 1st gen DSM I used to have so Im confident in his work.

I was just really shocked that this shop told me to just get a new engine. They told me a engine was $6800 and I was like um I paid a little more than that for the car. Situation sucks as the weather is perfect for some top down driving.

Just figured I would share and I hope everyone has fun driving their S.......

x 5 million

Oil pressure light coming on likely means you're very low on oil.

Also, why'd you double post?

Out of curiosity who is this?

I have a large following of DSM buddies in the PA region, more specifically York from my DSM days (had a 98 GSX with about 500HP). I know 2 of them run shops/side businesses.

It might be one of the guys I know.

C'mon... Not to come off sounding ugly, but the guy's motor is 'ticking...thumping...*and*...evidence of metal shavings in the oil'??? A TCT just ain't gonna fix what's ailing the OP's motor

But I do agree about... "CHECK YOUR OIL" weekly
