Default Are we ready for our own Club??? Consider the Central Virginia Club.

To the Richmond and surrounding area S2K owners & enthusiasts that utilize the Mid-Atlantic Club board -- For your consideration: A Central Virginia Club Forum.

I discussed this somewhat early on in my membership to this site, but wanted to experience time with its members to gauge how organized and interested our members and enthusiasts are in their cars. Bottomline, as I've seen it, there is a large (and growing) interest within the Richmond, VA area and surrounding counties. So much so that it seems logical to seriously explore this idea focusing a new Club/Forum with those members & enthusiasts that fall within this region.

I believe there is agreement that in its current incarnation, the Mid-Atlantic forum covers an extremely large territory for its current member base. As airgate & I've discussed, it seems that (with little to no exception) what goes on in Richmond usually does not involve much of the Washington (Northern Virginia) crew and vice versa. I've been absolutely impressed with how Gregg, as its Community Organizer, manages the Mid-Atlantic forum. And I'm interested in fostering even more enthusiasm for this automobile and its owners by focusing our regional group. It should be pointed out, however, that there is ample opportunity in this focused effort to further solidify events with our northern brethren.

As a friend and as the Carolina's Moderator & Community Organizer, I've expressed to airgate my interest in becoming a Community Organizer for such a Club/Forum. I have enjoyed the opportunities our area members and enthusiasts have allowed for me to organize events thus far. I would really like to continue to do so. I was recently intrigued to hear that West Broad Honda has *at least someone* that is recommending this site to new purchasers of S2000s. That's exciting. I'm curious to explore new avenues of support between our owners and dealers. I believe it is entirely possible to facilitate effective meet(s) at a local Honda dealership to talk with reps, receive service suggestions from their techs, and ultimately develop an excellent relationship with our local dealers whereby they appreciate our enthusiasm and expected professionalism over this automobile.

Airgate is willing to speak with Erik (cthree) who owns the site and Shelley (HondaGal) who helps facilitate these changes and have a new Club/Forum added with me as the Community Organizer. I would also be responsible for the moderation duties of the forum. As I've already mentioned, I enjoy this group and I'm extremely interested in serving its members and enthusiasts.

So now, a bit of a poll if you don't mind: Do we create a Central Virginia Club that covers the regional areas including Richmond (& surrounding counties including Midlothian, Mechanicsville, etc.), Williamsburg, Hampton, Virginia Beach -- basically, our current areas of membership participation meets. Not that it couldn't grow...I have no doubt of our willingness to include interested members. But I *do* believe there is merit to develop such a focused Club.

As you folks can see, I'm curious as to your thoughts. I really enjoy our group of enthusiasts. Let me know what you think. I know better than to expect 100% support...but I'm not going to pursue this interest on 50% support either. So, if you have an opinion on this topic, and you are a Mid-Atlantic member within the intended region, please feel free to express it.

Although we are "adopted" members from North Carolina~Dave has our total support

For the brief period that I have been an active member on this board I have witnessed Dave's true leadership ability and a sincere interest in his fellow members.

If this change does occur, the community needs someone who can organize, motivate, and follow through with planned events. Dave has demonstrated his willingness and capability time and again.

Thanks Dave

Dave for President! (oh, wait, I'm getting ahead of myself!)

Go for it! Don't forget our Lynchburg breatheren! They drive so fast you can hardly see them, but I'm sure they'd be interested too!

hmm...I like the idea but i dont know about calling it central VA. Maybe Southen VA and Northeren NC. Just my 2 cents. Because we still have a big area to cover, from Richmond to Virginia Beach, and some people from Northern NC, and as someone mentioned Lynchburg.

Hey, wingman let me know of this thread. Seems like a good idea, if there's enough participants. Do you just want a separate club, or a whole separate website forum as well?

Oh, and VA s2k, get out and drive that car! 3600 miles, that's horrible, I put ~2k miles on my viper last week alone!

I just thought I'd throw in my thoughts on the subject....

Although it's nice to have a separate identity, imho we don't have enough traffic here from either contingent to support it. My fear is that by splitting the forum we will end up w/ a two clones of the DelVal forum--that's not a good think if you know what I mean.

Additionally, We have had issue with coordinating events that span over the two forums and making sure updates are adequately relayed. I think it best to keep everything as centralized as possible.

Believe me, I would have no issue w/ this if it made sense. As it is, administering this forum takes almost no time...you guys all make it easy. I just don't want to kill what we have built up as far as comeraderie.

I think it is a bad idea. I already don't like the idea of a separate Delaware Valley group. I think we're all much better served by having the Mid-Atlantic region encompass the entire region and not subdividing into separate fiefdoms.

Although I have only been to one meet and very briefly, I whole heartedly support Dave in his efforts. He has been nothing but helpful, kind and friendly to myself in my quest for S2000 information. I would gladly be a member of the Central Viginia Club.
