Default Upper control arm mount welding

I need to get the mounts welded on my MY2000. Anybody have any experience with a shop locally? I'm in Silver Spring, MD.

Thanks

You need them welded because they're broken? Sorry, while I'm curious as to your intentions (vs. replacement) I'm afraid I have no welder referral to offer you.

Large diameter front sway bar, sticky tires and autocrossing/racing can cause the rear mount on the front upper control arm to start to separate at the spot welds.

Good pictures on this site:

I think there is a TSB on this topic from several years back and some discussion years ago about whether the welding would be A Stock legal if there was no Honda directed repair.

Pop noise at front upper control arm mount
Applies To: 2000-2004 S2000

If an oil canning or popping noise is heard when cornering or braking hard, visually inspect the frame rail where the front upper control arm-mounting bracket is spot welded to the frame rail. This problem only occurs to vehicles that have been driven repeatedly on a racetrack or in autocross events. If there is a gap
between the mounting bracket and the frame rail, use the following repair procedure:

It is a very basic type of job so any decent welding shop can do it. I already have reinforced A-arm mounts but if I had an AP1 I would consider taking it to Piper Motorsports.

That is actually what I was thinking. I also found a place near Brunswick, Maryland called Fast Lane Fabrications.

It is good to know that AP2's don't typically suffer this issue. Thanks, Pete!

I got the welding and refinishing done at FunKtion Auto in Dulles. Apparently the sheet metal had started to tear, not just the spot welds breaking. They painted and re-undercoated as well. I didn't think it would make as much difference as it seems to have made in the feel of the car. Could just be in my head. They got it done in a day for me. Now I've got 1 less excuse for doing crappy this weekend at FedEx.
