I lived on the Cali-Arizona border for 13 years and had occasion to cross into California more than a handful of times. The CHP that got me on my bike on my way to Balboa Naval Hospital('89) just outside Jacumba was not in a Mustang. 
I will go so far as to say that many/most of their vehicle were 'stangs. I also drilled bowling balls for a CHP... never needed him for "assistance."
