Pete, what have you seen? I'm not too terribly good at spotting them in the first place.... I could have seen one and not known it.

I have seen an unmarked dark blue Intrepid on 95/395 area pulling people on several occassions. I look out for this guy every day.

I would rather pay more on taxes and have a higher speed limit

I have never seen an import police car around here... Has anyone else?
Loudon County has a blacked out Civic SI. Also, lookout fo a yellow and silver vette (C4 model) normally cruising I-66.

CHP has always run Mustangs, but usually they were marked. A friend of mine back in high school (mid-80s) had a used one, still had the side headlamp on it, and you could definitely tell where the cop markings used to be.

Marked police cars promote safety. People see them and drive carefully. Unmarked ones are just designed to raise revenue. The speed limit is artifically low, it just exists to raise money and give police an articulable reason to pull someone over if they want to take a look-see.

If the law were more reasonable, more people would respect it. Instead it's just a game, and it promotes disrespect for the law in general.
CHP doesn't run just Mustangs. I lived on the Cali-Arizona border for 13 years and had occasion to cross into California more than a handful of times. The CHP that got me on my bike on my way to Balboa Naval Hospital('89) just outside Jacumba was not in a Mustang.

I will go so far as to say that many/most of their vehicle were 'stangs. I also drilled bowling balls for a CHP... never needed him for "assistance."

Disclaimer: I've lived in VA the last 6 years, so my first-hand knowledge may be outdated.

The Civic is not for traffic enforcement. But if you want to think it is and it keeps you from speeding then great.
