Default Transmission problem on an auto Civic...

Yes, it's an S2000 forum.

I know.

But I figured some of you gearheads may have an idea what's going on and might like to help with a few words/minutes.

It might be a matter of a couple thousand dollars for a friend of mine. I'm posting here in a familiar place since she'll have to make a decision one way or another fairly soon. Thanks for the help.

The transmission blew up on my car. Well...I honestly don't know what is wrong with it. I am still waiting on an open bay at Fallston Auto. So far I have heard:

- I just need to change the fluid/it is low.
- I need a new/rebuilt transmission.
- The screen in my current transmission just needs to be cleaned.

Here's the problem. When you hit the gas, the engine just rev's up. BUT...when you first start the car you have about a min or two of power before it starts slipping, then any braking at all will knock out any drive you had. After it is gone, you have to wait like 30 min to get it back again.

Sounds like the clutch engagement control in the automatic transmission is out of wack. Then you might want to check the hydraulic pressure control engaged by the solenoid pressure to perform speed change. In laymans terms, check the hydraulic pressure. It sounds like it's lacking pressure or blocked up and then check the clutch engagement control.
