I am interested in the event, but I am also a bit scurred. I have never auto-crossed, or taken my car to the track and the lack of insurance makes me hesitant. In the details for the event it says that there's no insurance but your own for this event. I'm guessing that my normal car insurance won't cover anything if I wreck/damage my car - is this correct? Are there any other insurance options for these types of events through other sources?

Also, my car has Riken Raptors - they were on the car when I bought it used, so I have no idea how those tires compare to OEM.
I would recommend trying autocross between now and May 19 if you can. It's cheap and a great environment in which to learn car control. I don't mean to scare you but the worst can happen. The instructors and organizers do every thing they can to prevent it. There's a vehicle safety check list, there's classroom instruction before going out on track, and there will be an instructor riding shotgun with you.

The experience is generally indescribable. At least I am at a loss for words when I try to convey how amazing it is to drive your car on track.

^^^ Wise Words.
If you're looking to try out autocrosses, I`m a fan of the capital driving club. Great group of guys.

Just registered for this event!

+1 for the Capital Driving Club. Very friendly group, nobody cares how fast/slow or experienced/rookie you are.

Stock roll hoops have been confirmed as ok for this event.
Having seen the videos of Honda's roll over test of the "A" pillar and stock roll hoops of the S2000 I am HAPPY to learn that someone used their heads and accepted them as safe as long as one meets the "broom stick test" (for a tall driver).

I am happy to learn that someone used LOGIC to determine that the Stock roll hoops and "A" pillar qualifies as being safe.

P.S. I will be attending the S2Ki.com Vintage Spring Fling event that weekend. However, if there is another event where the S2000 is deemed legal and instructors are needed please keep me in mind.
At TrackDaze Shenandoah circuit last September - there wasn't even a broom stick test and I`m a tall (6'1") driver.
As I understand it, they still won't let you on any of the other courses @ Summit Point, only Shenandoah.

There was a broom stick test by tech, you just didn't know it. They will call you out on it, but they are not going to literally place a broomstick over you. Ask me how I know.

Note to self... slouch.

Agreed. This is why I'm a maybe. I'd hate to pay the fee, drive all the way out there, and then have them tell me to leave. I think with my helmet I would fail it when leaning forward.

Test it yourself. Put on your helmet, slide the seat forward as far as it goes, tilt it back all the way and see if you clear. Obviously, you can't drive like that, but

I mentioned that I was planning on doing this in the Track Day thread for this region. But I realized I will not be able to make it. I will be in Ohio for a wedding. I was really hoping to try a new track, I will have to go later this year.

Just registered for both days. First track day in over a year so it should be interesting.
