I've only autocrossed once but I'm a big fan. I've seen many students new to the track get up to speed quickly because of their car control skills developed in autocross. Autocross is a great way to get the most out of an expensive track weekend. Autocross then track is easier than track then autocross.

A lot of the faster guys were not at this Mercedes AutoX so the FTD is not really that big an accomplishment. On the other hand I did not get a chance to walk or even see the course before running it but I had a good day and things just worked out. Barrie rode with me a couple times to yell out "left" or "right" or "Pete! Not while we're on the autocross course!" or "Pete, why do you hang around with those Lemons idiots?!!".

Cool! I'm going to prep a CR for STR next year. Running it in RTR for now to save on expense. Are you going to the Northeast Nationals in Devens?

Pete, is the Miata STR prepped?
Pete, is the Miata STR prepped?
Yup, it has been lightly prepped for STR (coilovers, 17x9 wheels, Dunlop SS, lots of neg camber)

Probably not. I don't really autoX much any more. I do the local Mercedes autox season and will run some of the Cumberland series but that is probably about it. I am at the track (working or instructing) at least 5-6 days a month so that leaves little time for autoXing.

Hey all!
I want to give a shout out to all of you that I met at the Trackdaze event. Kevin,Pete and all the others who's names I'm not sure about but faces and rides I won't forget. It was a pleasure meeting all of you! I was Pete's green student and when he jumped in my car after lunch I sat in awe as he described his trip to
the autocross. You Da man Pete! I hope to see you all again!
Cheers,
Mark

Ha! I found a video that someone took of one of my first runs. My fastest run was about ~1.4 seconds faster.
