Track Days
Good evening everyone.
I have been reading some of the threads about track days, and I am extremely interested in getting some track time in this coming spring.
I am in Richmond, and am interested in meeting some local drivers who plan on doing some track days this spring. I have done some autocrossing, but never any track work so I am a relative novice.
If anyone in the area or near by is interested in trying to plan some events, and directing me in what I need, should, and shouldn't do, let me know.
Thanks for any info and time you guys can spare.

yeah, I am pretty psyched for spring. my s2k is my second car so I am more than happy to do some work to it, and get it prepped for track work. I imagine a rollbar and harness is in order, but I am not sure about local track regs.
What have you done with you car so far?

It all depends on your insurance company, and how they consider track time. It can be considered "driver improvement" since you aren't racing, and should be driving within your limits. However every company is different. I am not an agent, but I used to do track days on my bike, and my agent told me it would be covered since it was a closed circuit and not a sanctioned event.

you won't need a roll bar for summit but if you get serious you should have one for more safety and also b/c other tracks like VIR will require a roll bar for you to race.
i rode in some stock s2000's at fall colors this year and i was completely amazed at how fast bone stock cars were taking corners with just better brake pads. that's about all you need if you are not going to be all out crazy.

State Farm covered my bike - they were awesome - not sure about cars though. I use Allstate now, and will be checking this week - will let you know what I hear. i don't plan on pushing to limits, and realize accidents happen so I am willing to roll the dice if necessary.

I have Erie and they told me that they would probably cover it but would drop me right away... but its so worth it I did a lapping day at Summit and Beave Run in my prelude and I loved it, WAY more fun then autox in IMHO.
