Anybody know a good/cheap place to stay near summit pt?
I`m not making the 5am drive out sat morn to make it for tech inspection and would rather just stay the night fri & sat

Camping there is always fun. Or there is a Holiday Inn Express next to the casino in Charles Town that is nice. They offer Summit Point discounts so make sure that you mention that when calling. ~$100/night I believe.

There are other cheaper alternatives in Charles Town, all very close to to the casino and about 12-15 minutes from the track. The area is safe. Just google map hotels near Charles Town and take your pick.
Another good option if finding a room-mate to share costs.

What's the deal with camping/food if you camp? I've got nothing against staying in a tent.

Camping is free although you can pay for use of an electrical outlet box. They have concessions but they close kind of early. I usually bring the grill with me and cook there. If you can't bring a grill I am pretty sure there is enough time to go get some food before they close the gates at night.
