Default tire suggestions

I have a stock ap2 wheels and tires. I got my car back in may 05. Does anybody else experience the rear end sliding real bad when shifting into 2nd quickly from a stop? I doubt my tires are worn already it does it when there warm 2 its even worse now that its cold. Does anyone have good suggestions on stickier tires but good for all seasons. This caused a close race to an sti to stretch even more.

If you want to get rid of that loss of traction upon shifting at all you will probably need to forget about getting all season tires. I have Goodyear F1s on heavy 18" wheels and I still get that loss of traction on shifting. In order to completely eliminate that momentary loss you will probably need to get wider tires and/or pure max performance summer tires. And honestly, I still think it'll be hard for you to completely eliminate that loss of traction with oem sized tires...

Thanks I probably won't eliminate it all with oem tires but I need some better traction cause its really breaking loose. I want to keep the weight down so I don't want huge wheels and tires I like the factory stance

Stock tires for AP2s were Bridgestone RE050's right?

If thats the case try looking into S02s (S03s now??), BF Goodrich KDW2s or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. I think they might be a tad better than RE050s..

if you're on stock tires it's no wonder they are slipping... it's winter out. Summer tires don't work well when it's cold out.

My new avons (goodyear) grip great in wet and snow, but if you're talking about losing traction shifting to 2nd I'm assuming you're pushing the car pretty hard. I think in this weather...like stated above...you have to get either full winter tires or all seasons. It sounds like you are looking for a magic tire perfect in all conditions and I haven't heard of it yet. If you want winter traction...get a winter tire...if you want summer performance ....get that. Last option is be like me and get all seasons. You get good traction no matter what, but nothing amazing. Oh wait....one last option....the gas pedal does not ALWAYS have to be pushed to the floor.
