Tire mounting/balancing shop in Columbia area?
Well after 15K miles it was time for some new rear S02's. I was able to get them for 159 each from tire rack. The question is though.... Where is a good place in the Columbia/Ellicott City area to get them mounted/balanced? I was quoted over $30/tire from British and American Auto in Columbia. Is this about the going rate?
Thanks!
Mike

Baggs,
check out tirerack's recommended installers. I believe there are two in columbia(where i work), one of which is right by the post office off of oakland mills/oakhall lane. tirerack will ship the tires directly to the installer and they'll call you when they come in. I've used merchants with no problems, however my co-worker had some issues with them stripping his lock nut. I believe it was ~$110 mount and balance. Not the cheapest but not outrageous either.

The criteria to be a TireRack installer is...nothing, I think. That said, I've had two pretty good experiences at Merchants in Laurel on Route 1. Is there an odd pattern emerging?
I'd avoid NTB. They've been crap since Sears bought them. Ye Olde Wheel Shoppe is on the TireRack list. While they might be great at tire repair, they didn't impress on tire install. The guy used a floor jack with a log (yes, a log) on top to lift my car.

Will tirerack ship to any installers or just the listed/recommended?
