Ticket update
well as many of you know I got a reckless ticket in Jan and I went to court today.
here's what I ended up getting
45days suspended jail sentence for one year
100 hours of community Service
800 dollar fine
6 months of suspended liscense
with 20 days of no chance of restricted liscense
after that i"m allowed to go to court and ask for a restricted liscense to drive to and from work
no fun at all
just for going 96 in a 55 at 3AM on route 28
sigh....
so when's someone gonna come pick me up to go paintballing
Nick

Suspended sentences always scare me. If you violate the terms during that year you will be serving that 45 days on revo, and your record will reflect this. This means for the full 365 days they can hold that 45 day sentence over your head.
I think your attorney could have done a little better for you, pushed for differed and not suspended.
Follow the guidelines they set for you. Any little thing (public intox, etc.) will set that suspended sentence into effect.
Good luck

Sorry to hear about your experience.
But are you sure your record will be gone at the end of the year?
Usually, a suspended sentence just means the jail sentence is not imposed. Paying a fine usually means a conviction has occurred and a conviction is a part of your driving record for as long as DMV keeps it. Also, reckless driving is a Class 1 misdemeanor, but typically no one means a driving record when they ask whether you have a criminal record. Also, unless you got fingerprinted, the record never shows up except on your DMV record.
It sounds as though your lawyer did a good job. I hear Northern Virginia judges are putting people in jail for going over 90. I remember the day I finally reached 600 miles. It was ironically the same day I heard someone got sentenced to 10 days in jail for going 95+ on 66 East, in addition to getting a suspended license with no chance at getting a restricted license for 60 days. That stopped any notions of vtecing for a month or so.
Maryland is a friendlier jurisdiction for first time offenders. Maryland judges made the news last year when the Post reported them putting first-time DWI offenders on what they call Probation Before Judgment (PBJ), which specifically allows for the dismissal of their charges at the end of their probation period. The folks at MADD were not happy about drunk drivers having their record kept clean. I do not know what has happened in Maryland since then, but you can be certain it does not happen here in NVa.
So, to all my S2ki colleagues . . .drive safe and be careful out there.

all I know, is that when I write out a job application I don't have to check the YES box to the question:
have you spent time in jail?
and then explain
that to me is worth all the other bullshit....but now it's definite that I have to sell my S2000....
no reason at all to keep her, if I can't go for a drive...
crappy crappy stuff...plus I'm gonna have to be REAL careful to keep my nose clean
someone just come pick me up for the next paintballing trip PLEASE!!!
