Thinking of Buying a Porter Cable...
So I am thinking of buying a porter cable and I was wondering if someone would be willing to do a little teaching @ the Wash and Wax meet. What materials would I need to bring? It doesn't have to be on my car, but I would like to learn before I invest money in everything that I need.
thanks.

Trust me... buy the PC. I won't be there to help in any way, but the thing is well worth it. It's not some mystery tool either- very simple. Virtually impossible to destroy a paint job with it unlike a rotary.

My friend and I did my car about a month ago. He just bought a new porter cable and had used it on his car, but he wanted to give it a shot on a black car, so I volunteered.
First we washed the car. Then we turned on the porter, and put on a coat of sealant wax and took it off with microfiber towels. Then we put on a coat of Meguiars NXT wax, and took it off with microfiber towels. All we did was put the wax directly on the car, turn on the cable with the little circular polishing pad, then waxed the car with it. Very simple.
The end result was the deepest shine I've ever had on my car. We did a section with just hand waxing, then a section with the porter cable for comparison, and it isn't even close.

This is an excellent site as well. I've got all their products ready to go based on the recommendation of our resident OCD detailer Chris (AnimeS2K). He will more than likely be at the WnW giving his demo with these products.

Pay particular attention to the "perfect shine" section if your paint needs restoration.

finish polish will take the wax off. wax = last
wash -> wash -> clay -> polish -> seal -> wax
I just did the "perfect shine" procedure on my hood only for anyone that will be at Peter's shop tomorrow and want to see the results
