Default Are there any lawyers in here?

I got a ticket for 81/55 in November, and I have the court date coming up at the end of this month. The infraction was in Petersburg on 95N right after the merge from 295S.

The speed limit in the area is 65mph, but I was ticketed for a 55mph zone.

How do I prove to the court that it was a 65mph zone and not a 55mph? Since I am not guilty of speeding 81/55, does that drop the charge altogether or do they just change it to 81/65?

This isn't my first, or second.... or third. But it is only my second in three years. I'm going to use, "I'm a W&M student, ROTC cadet and I was on my way to a school function... I still had my cluster dimmed because I had been driving since 6am" I only have two tickets on my record, one was on a WA state license.

I just need to know how I can get that changed from 55 to 65.

Doesn't matter really. Anything 80mph and over is considered reckless in Virginia. Get a local lawyer.

+1 on the lawyer, he/she should be able to get your reckless charge dropped to speeding or lower. Let your attorney know all the details including the 65mph thing.

Here's a thread on another forum, regarding VA tickets:

That guy apparently got it dropped to improper control without an attorney!
