Summit Point - Seat Time - talk about lots of track time!

We definitlely need to get a group to go up there again en masse. I am going to sign up for a FATT slot for later November. As I just got the Porterfield R4S, SS lines, and modified rotors, I am really interested to see how they hold up. Sounds like fun Alberto, I will be joining you soon. How much does Seat Time cost you?

I didn't know you could take a passenger. That would be fun.
After going to big course 5 times, I don't see the reward in the big straight just to destroy my brake pads.
What is your top speed down the straight? I hit 128 with my stock pads with the top up i think. I didn't try very hard the only time i went with porterfields.... i was trying to conserve them ($200 of pads plus $175 or so for track time = expensive day)...but as it turns out I still needed to replace them soon after the track day as they start to crumble.

Another thing about Seat Time - you can take a passenger.

I attended my first "Seat Time" last Friday, and it was a BLAST. It was raining for the first session, just wet for the next 3, and Dry for the last 2. I was in my WRX, so I was LOVING the wet. And the great thing about the rain was that there were hardly ANY cars in the street group. I guess a lot of people stayed home. I think at most there were 8 on track. Let me tell you, I learned more in those first 4 wet sessions than than 4 whole track days in the dry. Got the car to slide around and get into some good drifts, and with the AWD, I could just stand on it and the car would pull me right out of the corners. I was by far the fastest car on the track during the wet sessions. I felt bad for the guys in the Boxters and M3's that had to tiptoe through, and especially out of, the corners.

Summit only requires hard braking on 1 and 5, everywhere else it is just a tap at most.
As to the top speed on the straights, I hit around 120. I am braking earlier on 1 trying the slow in fast out approach -- seems to work better for me; I come into 3 much faster that way.

I'm doing the NASA two-day event in early November(11/2 and 11/3) and then a FATT in early December (12/6). If there're openings other times in November, I'd be up, assuming I'm not traveling for work. But I'm not "cleared" by Summit yet, so I'm not sure if they'll let me do Seat Time with just the 11/2-11/3 NASA event under my belt.

I think it is more the way I drive than the pads. I brake later and harder i guess. I am not sure what the speed is I hit going into turn 3, but I know I am in 4th and downshift to 3rd for the turn...... as I look to the right to see where Gregg decided to go for a field trip
going from 125+mph to 40mph in turn 1 at the limit is most likely the cause of the brake pads getting destroyed.
Next year I will have to do at least one Seat Time or other event there.

Damn...you guys just make me so damn jealous! I wish I could go out there get loose w/ my car. I just got it in August and am dying to push some limits. Let me ask you though, how long will the stock pads last on the track? The car has roughly 1500 miles on it...I bought it w/ 12 miles on it, no hard braking yet...so...opinions?
