Default sucks runnning silencers(went to Court 2nd time)

So after being pulled over, 3 times in the last 2 weeks and given 2 tickets I'm running silencers on my exhaust...Ahhh invidia why are you so loud but sound so nice after 6k....I talked to my state trooper that does my inspection reports and he says that I could fight the exhaust tickets because the law that I'm being hit with is to go after people welding canister mufflers on their car. If your exhaust is comparable to o.e.m or sepcificaly made for the vehicle then its legal to own and operate as long as it operates like stock. Which I guess it does with the power draining silencers in. The sound of the exhaust is only punishable in residential area's. I've been pulled over on 66w and on 234 bussines...I'll take my case to court and hopefully get a reduced fine or maybe even droped....

ah Mr S2k. how I enjoy seeing your posts.

You should take the silencers off with "Lightning quickness" IMO

Perhaps that is the state law. You should investigate the code you were cited for in the local jurisdiction.

I talked to the state tropper inspection guy.... and exahust are legal if the fallow OEM route and have a cat on the car ... the only thing they can get you for is sound.. and they have to test it on site of being pulled over!.... i fight with cops all the time about it... most cops think they know what they are talking about and are wrong!... take it to court and it will be dropped

In Virginia, the law is plain. ANY aftermarket exhaust is illegal.. I have asked Senator Stolle to amend the following code to allow Manufactured Exhaust that meets the OEM specs. Sound is another thing, but in states like CA they issue troopers Decibel meters to see if the car is in compliance. They set the DB rating and you cannot exceed that. I also asked my friend the Senator to add that to our code as well. He did not do so this year, maybe next?

Yea...not sure what state you are in, but in VA that's not true. Like Mark stated, it's illegal to modify it at all in VA. If they actually used DB readers like other states that would be great. At least it would give people some options instead of just leaving the sound level up to the officer to decide. A law based on an opinion just sounds stupid to me.

i was pulled over at least 3 times in my old integra and civic in md. one time was an inspection ticket where i just had to get my exhaust checked to see if it had a working cat on it. the other time was for the exhaust being illegal. i plead not guilty in court and then i got "slapped" in the face by the judge when he read out of the law book that if it's louder than oem it's illegal

i've been pulled over at least 3 times in the S (all my fault) but none were for my un-Godly loud exhaust
