Stereo Upgrader Suggestions in NoVA
Howdy all. I'm the proud owner of a MY00 Silverstone S2000. I live in Alexandria. My only complaint about the car is that that stereo system leaves a lot to be desired.
I'm looking to do some incremental upgrades, specifically the head unit and the front door panel speakers (I may well eventually put in a sub and rear speakers, but cash is rather limited at this time!) I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations of shops or freelancers in the Northern Virginia area that can do a professional job of installing a new head unit and speakers. I'm loathe to take it to one of the majors (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.) since I've seen too many poorly installed stereos coming out of those places.
I will thank you in advance for any recommendations and insight!

Many thanks! I stopped by my local Myer-Emco (in Bailey's Xroads) and they seemed a bit... Sketchy. The guy I spoke with said that the stereo could be replaced, but they were talking an exorbitant ($200) install fee for just the head unit. Did I just get a moron (my first thought) or is my budget going to have to expand?
While I'm thinking about it, anyone have recommendations on a particular installer/employee at one of these joints?

Yeah that seems like they didnt want the business, unless they were including all of the parts required to keep the dash controls (a good idea) in any case $200 is way too high.
It really isnt tough to install the items yourself, places like crutchfield even provide the instructions on how to do it, or I can walk you through it if you wanted to try it yourself

Check out the best buy in woodbridge. I used to actually work there, AWESOME installers there. They are so good, people from other best buys schedule installs there! haha, only thing is, you may have to wait. IMO, its worth it for a good, clean install. Plus, if best buy installs it, and ****s up, you can file an insurance claim!
