Default speeding ticket

question for everybody, my brother got a speeding ticket in culpepper county, he was doing 73/55 zone, it was state trooper, after issueing the ticket, my brother satrted asking him about the location of the court and how his speedometer displayed a different number , and forgot to sign the ticket, the trooper did not realize and left, the question is does not signing a ticket mean anything at all? give him a better chance to be let off?

Well... that is interesting. You sign it to admit that you were given the ticket. If there is no signature.... how can they prove you got the ticket.

The signature should be important, definatly a technicallity to look in to.

Take it from me.. I've written tickets with no signatures before. because of my mistake.. and it's always been prosecuted in court as a valid violation. You can try to fight it in court.. but going from experience as a law enforcement officer.. it usually just pisses off the judge for wasting his time.. unless the officer has been known in the past to do this sort of stuff.. good luck.

That is the problem with the justice system nowadays. You dont get off on technicallity for little stuff, but ruthless killers can use it all the time.

In traffic court, a civilian really has no rights. There are no set penalties and the law that cops are suppose to follow does not matter. There is no uniform code of justice.

You are exaclty right, Judges only get mad when you try to get off on technicality or if you question the integrity of the officer.

My problem with the system is that they tend to use good people as a source of revenue, while they turn their back to real criminals. It is sad when more man hours go in to writing tickets then tracking down killers and rapists.

Sorry for being a little off topic, but im tired of getting parking tickets everytime i turn around and having parties busted up, but no one catches the guys that break in to houses and rape girls.
