Sold the S2000
#21
Interesting...knock on wood, but i've always had good luck with cops and I drive some pretty heavily modded cars. speaking of ground clearance, my G37s alone, the tires tuck, my old s2000 was turbocharged with a huge ass wing and body kit.
I guess it's where you're at and how you drive it.
I just got another s2000 a month or so ago. I hope I don't run into the same situation.

Police have a lot of discretion when it comes to traffic stops. If I see a good violation I make a stop, but honestly for me at least, most of the time it's the attitude of the driver that determines how I cite them. Unless they are so clearly in the wrong, If they cooperate and don't present me with an attitude then I might be inclined to write a warning or repair order instead of a ticket. I don't know the full story so I can't really comment to the OP's situation, but hypothetically, if he were in MD he probably would have just gotten a repair order giving him 30 days to mail in documentation of the repair(s) or the registration gets suspended... end of story. But since it was VA, and I don't even think they have equipment repair orders, that certainly could explain why he kept getting stopped if he never corrected the violation(s).
