SCCA Northeast Formula E Champ
I'm thumbing through the November edition of the SCCA's "Sportscar" magazine and there on page 20 is Keith McDonald staring me in the face. He's the SCCA Pit and Grid Worker of the year. There's a nice article about him and they casually mention he just took the Northeast Division Formula E Championship. I don't know if I missed the thread with this info in it or if Keith is just too modest to let this be known, but congratulations Keith on the championship and the national award.

he was doing 1 article every month or two. i think mine was about the last one to show up, grid worker award was for the 2008 race year. got a plaque, jacket and $75 gift certificate. several years ago Carolyn won, she got a set of tires, guess the recession hits everyone.
FE Championship is kind of that tongue-in-cheek thing. My teammate, Justin Huffman, has won it the 1st two years we were a national class, 2007-2008, with me 2nd both years. He easily beats me (at SP this year he was running low 1:12's, i was low 1:15's), and most others in the division, and gets enough points with 5 races to win the division. I go to enough races (several with no one else in class) that i get enough points (quantity, not quality i.e. several people beat me at a race, but they do not do a full season).
this year justin did not have time/money and only made it to a couple races. i had time, no money, but CC limit not reached, so i made it to all 9 NEDiv races, of which 7 count toward championship. same as previous years, by getting to more races, i made enough points to stay ahead of others who can beat me at a single race.
to further make that point that i am old and slow.... at the RunOffs, i was 12 of 17, with 4 of the faster people breaking down. only guy i was ahead of on track was running his 1st year in the class. overall points in country, 1 was 14th of somthing like 80, but same story goes, lots of people only do a couple races.
not that i am complaining about winning, i just need to say Thank You, Justin, whenever i accept congratulations on the accomplishment.
