S2000 Purchase
#11
dont give up. there are several people in this area that got the car for below msrp.. do a search on this forum.
I got my car at MSRP in the end of year 2000. Had to order the car around summer fall of 2000 and it was a 2001 model..
It is now 2002 3rd quarter.. you can definatley go below msrp now.
btw its non of my business but do you really want to let $15k sit in a car as your down payment when loan interest rates are so low now?

John,
if you are hellbent on paying under sticker... buy from that guy in South Dakota, fly out and drive it home.... i think he is selling for $31k or so.... you save $2k.... spend $500 in airfare and lodging and drive it home..... or have it shipped for $500 and you are still ahead by $1500.

i definately think you can get one for lot below under MSRP. Out the door my price was $32,000 including tax, tags and freight plus
extra wind diffuser (which I sold for $100)
4 yrs oil change
1 jacket (that i need to drop off to Mike)
2 hats (that I am giving away)
so it actually ended up costing me 31,900 out the door...
if i were you, i would pick up a used s2000 2002 model year for less than 30k and use the rest of the money for mod or vacation in the s2k.
my 2 cents.

John,
I didn't shop the car intensively but got quotes from MSRP to $2,000 over MSRP (Jim Coleman). I bought the black one at Pohanka from Mustafa Taha this afternoon. It was actually only offered via Ebay Motors. I'm not sure it was a great deal, but I wasn't in the mood to shop and be patient. Ironically, black was my fourth choice but since I'm not that picky about colors (I usually get tired of my car's color within a month anyhow) and will concentrate on the view from the inside. If you end up finding and buying a silver/black or susuka blue/black, we should consider meeting to trade 'em. Good luck.

I recommend you do bargain heavily on this car. Don't pay MSRP! I would say 30K is a fair price for this car. Dealers are full of it. I just sold my 01 for 29K but it took me a long time to do so. I had paid 33200 delivered last April 01. Overall I lost about 6K with interest. My car only had 6k miles and was in mint condition. That's allot of money to lose in a year on a car. Good Luck!

Andy,
It's driving fine. I've been making up lame excuses to take it out for a drive every night. I'm also finding it difficult to keep my foot out of it during break-in.
