Couple of things. 1) We don't have struts. All four corners have Showa shocks. 2) Any lowering spring will adversely affect the shocks over time. Some, due to their spring rate, take less of a toll on the stock shocks. 3) Unless you match springs and shocks, you are going to actually lose some handling.

I have lowering springs with the stock shocks and stock rims. I have about 23k this way. The shocks are still good because the spring rate is comparable to stock. With the change in spring height, the shock does have to shoulder more of the burden. If you drive your car "normally," you should have no problem. Considering your location, I can't see you "launching" much... topography is too flat.

Rick Hesel has 18's and completely stock suspension. Yes, there is a gap, but the car still handles well. Best thing is to decide which road you'd like to travel(strictly performance or show), and then let that decision guide you in your purchasing.

One last comment, Evolution Autosports is straight-up. Service is outstanding. Not always the least expensive, however, if you ever have a product problem, they go to bat for you! They are relatively close to you and a known entity on the board. Good luck with your choice!
