Default Replacement HID Headlight Bulb... Oh my god!

My head light went out on Friday...

Geez, have you guys had to replace you headlight bulb?

West Broad Honda quoted me $213.00 for one new bulb. Does anyone know how long it should last? Is it covered by warrantee
The Zenon bulb in my Dad's 500SL lasted for 3.5 years till he sold the car.
This is unbelievable...

you can get some philips bulbs from www.autolamps-online.com for about 150. make sure you get the 4300k D2S bulbs. there is a chance that the hue of the light may be a little different. bulbs should last longer than a year or two, but if you do things like turn the bulbs on and off constanty, turn the car on and off while the headlights are on, etc.. this will shorten the lifetime of the bulb.

wait till you see how much work goes into replacing the bulb.

Yea, I have the shop manual. It's behind a panel secured with a Torx screw. They normally use those for things that you never open, especially things that the customer isn't supposed to work on.

I'm not going to take this lying down.

They're supposed to have a 10-20 year life span.

Well, this had a wonderful ending, and I want to say...

THANKS WEST BROAD HONDA

They really took care of me this time.
First they picked up the tab for the light bulb (under warrantee). They over nighted it for replacement. But it was misdiagnosed, after they replaced the bulb it didn't work. They diagnosed it as a bad inverter (balast, if you work on your low-beams they operate at 25000 volts... be careful), and replaced it all before they had promissed to get it back to me. They they inspected the car (the inspection was over due a week ago... figures), and all of it didn't cost me a cent. They felt bad about misdiagnosing the bulb. All I can say is it was some of the best customer service I have seen in a long time.

One happy customer,
Laz

Great that they took care of you too. I've stayed incredibly impressed with their Service Customer Support. Chris has been aces every visit...and although I am a very patient owner, I've also *bugged* them with each and every lil' thing I've discovered on The Bruised Banana that I didn't feel was "quite right." They've always been accommodating and that is incredibly appreciated.
