So i got the $150 fine and that was it. But my case was different. You need to get a lawyer. That is for sure. But I did see people get out of all kinds of reckless tickets and or pay minimal fines. None as severe as 100+mph though. But one guy was doing 77 in a 45 and almost fell on his face drunk when he stepped out of his car. He paid a $400 fine and a one year suspended lisence with the exception of going to work. So there is leniency to be found in the system.

I've been doing some research online, and have found some literature on tire width and odometer reading vs actual speed.

Hey guys,
So I just got the results from my court hearing. I didn't have to drive down to Mecklenburg County because my lawyer represented me. I got $1000 fine, no restricted license, no jail time. I'm definitely one of the lucky ones. Skatethesea I'm happy you didn't get penalized that bad.
Thanks everyone for their inputs and be careful when driving in Virginia! Now I know.
p.s. I didn't bother using the tire width defense nor did I get the speedometer calibrated; I figured it would be an insult to the judge.

Got off easy. That being said, I hate VA's budget based on speeders fines. But still, 1k is half a hardtop. Keep your wits about you next time you drive in the commonwealth.

Glad it all worked out. VA is scary. I am careful when I drive there for sure.
Glad you didn't get jail time, that would suck major a$$. $1000 is a small price to pay to avoid that.
Slow it down next time

just as a reference to others, moshahkhan, may I ask if your previous driving record is clear? I've got a friend with pretty much exactly the same ticket in VA. If you prefer, you can PM me your answer. Many thanks in advance!

Whoever said that MD and VA do not talk is wrong. I'm living proof of that.
Although the reckless from VA was on my record, my printout of my MD point total from the MVA showed the VA charge but had a 0 for the # of points. I understand maybe VA printouts charge for MD offenses, but I didn't get charged points in MD for the VA offense.
Later in 07, I was able to get a probation before judgment in MD despite the VA offense. The judge declared that anyone with points would not get a PBJ, and I got the PBJ.

For you Skip, VA may have cared about what happened in MD, but for me MD didn't care about what happened in VA when I got my reckless in VA in 06.
