Default Rear Axle Nut Fixed at Sport Honda

i had the infamous popping/cracking noise coming from the rear axle upon acceleration. i have an 02. i took the service note to the Sport Honda and they had it fixed for $40 within 15 minutes, and the problem is solved. this is the best experience i've had with Honda's service. maybe it's because i talked to the mechanic directly. if you have the problem you should take it to Sport Honda and talk to the mechanic directly. he's a small, young Asian guy named Justin (i'm pretty sure). he knows what he's doing and has fixed this problem twice.

Usually dealers will do a goodwill repair because this is a common problem with our cars. I had mine done a while back for nothing during a standard oil change. But then again it was an Acura dealer, not Honda. Glad you got it fixed though

i have tightened my axel nut twice to cure the clicking symptom. do you know if he did anything other than just re-torquing the axel nut?

maybe someone can elaborate. IIRC someone mentioned greasing something and then re-torquing to a hire spec. and validity here?

Kind of a summary courtesy of Billman.

Remove rear wheel centercaps. This job should be done wheels on, car on ground
-unstake nut
-remove nut
-grease face of nut
-re-install, torque to 220. Nut should move 2 hrs tighter
-re-stake nut
-replace centercap

I have an '07 and dont have the issue, however I drove an '06 and it drove me nuts. The only thing I figured out was to change the way I introduced the throttle during shifting.
