Honda of Annapolis: I have a great dealer experience to relate...

In summary- I was extremely satisfied with the honesty and coolness under fire of Dave Fajerski (service writer) and the knowledge and experience of Doug Sears (mechanic).

My baby had lost 5th gear (like it was a baby tooth). One day it was gone, like it was never there. No notch in the pattern, no grinding noise, just a smooth spot between 3rd and reverse lockout. Potential major $$$ to fix a problem in a rare transmission.

I tried a few things on my own - based on a 100% accurate stuck 5th-6th synchro-sleeve diagnosis by a fellow S2KI member. I tried forcing it into fifth gear, but was too afraid that I'd cause serious damage (a week ago I snapped off a wheel lug on the Sequoia).

My first preference was JCH, but I just couldn't get there and back.

SWEETJ suggested Honda of Annapolis.

I talked with Dave who was honest - not much experience with S2000 trannies, but a very capable service department.

There was little snafu with the shuttle ride, a heated over reaction (me), a cool headed Dave to handle the issue resulting in a ride to my house with Doug.

Doug has modded his CRX (turbo, etc.) into a low 13's machine (So he's Honda guy!). He understood the problem, had seen it before in preludes and new what needed to be fixed. I told him about fall colors this weekend, and he immediately started planning in case he needed parts, so he could get it fixed in time.

On the way back to the shop, he forced it a couple of times until he found 5th gear. After a few gear changes, all 6 gears (and reverse) were working.

This was not a common problem, so it could have cost $$$$ and time to diagnose, so I was very impressed to find out that Doug had heard of it and new what to do to fix it.

Anybody have any good service experience in the Annapolis area? Doesn't even have to be a Honda dealer. My experience with Honda of Annapolis was bad enough that I didn't buy my car there.

Criswelll Honda in Germantown did an excellent job in doing an oil change for me in about 30 minutes. They were significantly less expensive than Herson's, obviously used Honda parts (filter, nut, and oil), and were very courteous and professional. They made me feel like an appreciated customer. I highly recommend them!!! BTW, they also do aftermarket parts and warranty the work and honor the factory warranty as well with the S. I'm looking forward to getting some goodies slapped on there, due to the great experience I had for my first service. BTW, ask for Nguyen (performance parts specialist) and tell him Adrian sent you.

I have scrolled through all 12 pages and did not see any real references to Bill Page Honda. Does any one have any in-put?

Default Pohanka Acura in Chantilly VA, anyone use them for S2K service

Hey guys,
I took my S2K to Pohanka for a state inspection on Sat. They have totally redone their location, tile flooring in the service bay, nice new lounge, nice new service manager area etc etc. Pohanka has a good service record and the guy I talked with even said "I bet you don't want your car washed right? I mean you probably don't want us to use the brushes on it, but I'll do it if you want"

so I liked that, because I only wanted a vacuum and it was free:-)

Anyway, he said they service a few other S2000's and they can do any work other then warranty work.

would you take your S2000 to Pohanka? Have you? I don't know if I trust any of the local Honda dealers.

thanks
Chris

Has anyone had a dealership do the glass rear window conversion, listed here in the S2Ki library, by a dealership??? If so, Who? and were you pleased with their work???

OR....do you think that I should just do the install myself???

I am a little hesitant to do it myself since it lists it as taking 10 hours.

I need to take my ride to get an oil change around the Sterling area. Any good recommendations?
