Xbox.
The online community (most of my friends here) is great.
I do have some racing buddies from the UK.
Just much easier to use, the sony interface is not very intuitive.

Thanks for the help guys.
One quick question...say I have an xBox360 and my friend has a PS3...and we are both playing the same game, would it allow for us to play online together...or would we BOTH need to be on the same console platform?

How in the HELL did I overlook this thread? 
Raul, get a PS3....[if you haven't already]. That way, when you tire of it...I can buy it off of you as a spare Blu-Ray player for our master bedroom

Definitely the PS3
the console will last much longer than 360
it's already proven to be faster, and more powerful than the 360
the PS3 has much more potential and longevity
online experience is FREE
and it's simple to connect a bluetooth headset to play online.
PS3 stepped up big time lately with it's great titles out right now
Resistance 2
Fallout 3
Far Cry 2
Call of Duty World at War
Metal Gear Solid 4
Little Big Planet
Dead Space
Bioshock
Plus must have titles:
Uncharted
Heavenly Sword
Orange Box
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
etc.
Plus keep in mind the titles coming soon:
Final Fantasy XIII
God of War III
Tekken 6
Street Fighter 4
Resident Evil 5
Uncharted 2
It won't let you down
