Default Pungo Autocross, April 11th Recap

Yesterday was the opening event of the SCCA ODR 2010 season. We had three S2ks representin' and I'd say we represented pretty well.

The course walked very tight but it actually drove fairly well, tight but still doable with a little speed. The weather couldn't have been better.

BS Jeff Rooney, Honda S2000, 47.248, 1st in Class, 1st in PAX, FTD
X (Street Tire) James Rodatus, Honda S2000, 53.935, 4th in Class
N (Novice) Joe Rollins, Honda S2000, 56.498, 3rd in Class

Jimmyroadster was able to chop some good time off his run and looked really good out on course. He was nailing one of the toughest parts of the course.

Skatethesea, lumberjacked his times down with each run. Being his first event he was a little nervous but after his first run I could tell he was having a good time. The course was tight enough for skate not to be able to use his power but that'll all change next week at ACU-4. Good to have you out there Skate.

Preliminary Results

I have some video to go through but I should have it up later. Got in car from my runs and got Skate leaving the line for his first run. I'll post more pics as I find them.

I got my time down to a 51.7xx on my fun run. I think that 53 was actually a 51 plus a cone. It was a fun course, and I think I still had some speed left out there, but after 4 official runs and 3 fun runs the Star Specs were telling me to call it a day.
Joe did a great job learning the course, improving his times, and keeping his runs clean. I wasn't nearly as good my first time out. Jeff was able to dig deep and exploit some of the S2000 friendly areas of the course to pull out a dominant win over a fast, but twitchy, Porsche 914-6 and well set up and well driven CSP Miata.
Now the question is, how many more S2000s can we get out at ACU-4 this weekend? Jeff, Joe and I will be there, but we need some S2000 drivers whose names do not begin with J.

Thanks for the props guys! I really enjoyed it. I really have to do something to improve my suspension since my tires were rubbing. And I went from a 61.1sec first run to 55.9 on my last run but I got a penalty. Dont know what it was for. But either way, I finally got to see what an S2000 can really do! Cant wait to try out a bigger course with a little more speed. WOOT!

Thanks! I'm really happy with my finish considering I haven't been to an event in 5 months. I'm looking to back it up this a strong performance this weekend. We'll call this one a warm up. haha

See if you can find out where you are rubbing if you don't already know. Did you do anything with tire pressure, if not and you need help, we can get you straightened out. I want to say I remember a cone in the slalom on your last run but I'm not certain.

You should have plenty of space to use some power this weekend, possibly mid 60s or more, design dependent. I've been to some events locations where I saw mid 80s.

How is the weighted alignment working out for you?

So far so good. On the highway I seem to have minimal pull to one side or the other but that could be in my head considering road crowning and such.

The car felt very good through the slaloms with consistent left to right movement. I hope to feel a difference this weekend where we are sure to have a high speed sweeper, didn't get that chance this past Sunday. I'm expecting the car to have the same confidence in each direction. We'll see.
