Default O/T - Places to Eat in DC

Sorry to clog up the forum with off-topic threads but I'll be in DC in early May with a large group of family (18 people). Our hotel is all set (Topaz Hotel, 1733 N Street NW @ 17th St.) but we need some dining suggestions. These are are plans to-date:

Friday PM: The Brickskeller. It is close to the hotel and looks like it has a large beer selection which is perfect for our group.

Sunday Brunch: Gabriels (Radisson Hotel). Recommended for their 'latin-brunch' buffet.

We need something for Saturday PM. Inexpensive to Moderate in price. Good food and drinks. Someone suggested Lauriol Plaza but they will not take a reservation for 8:00pm (only 6:30). Another suggestion was Zaytinya but I would like some feedback on the place.

Also, this is not a real 'club' crowd but we would like to go to a bar Saturday night with live music. If you know of one, please chime in.

I would appreciate any comments on the above noted restaurants or any suggestion on other places to dine.

Thanks in advance.

Michael

Topaz is a very nice hotel. They have a great bar which is always packed on the weekends. There are serveral options around the hotel. Actually the hotel is located in the middle of major bars and clubs. I can recommend Savions and Frontpage for dinner. Both are located in walking distance from your hotel at Dupont Circle. Ask the hotel for directions. Enjoy your stay in DC.

DC has lots of great restaurants around Dupont and elsewhere in the city...Zaytinya is a new one that has gotten good reviews. Considered moderately priced - here that means entrees $10-25. I suggest you go to washingtonpost.com and look under the entertainment tab at restaurants. You can search by name or area, etc. The larger group could be a problem for some. The website shows which ones are recommended and you can click on any one you like to see a review. Enjoy!
