Default New Top

After much letter writing and negotiating with Honda and my dealership I got my new 00 top installed yesterday. Top is free, labor is going to be split. They did a good job except they scraped the top of the roll bar which they are going to repair. Took 2 days and I cant put the top down for a week so that the canvas stretches. Took 3 guys to latch the top. I can stop complaining about this miserable for a weather for a week now. I will have it down for the New Hope run, hope I dont jinx the ride.

I guess you gave up on getting the '02 style top installed??

[B] I have been in touch with an excellent upholstery shop I know and they are going to look at the schematic for modifying the 00 frame and let me know if they can do it. This may be the best solution in the long run as they are very experienced and I'm sure less expensive than the dealer.

The 02 top solution was not an option unless I was willing to purchase the 02 top for $1200.00 and have a local shop modify the frame for another $800.00. This was an estimate from the schematic I provided to the shop and didnt include installing the defroster. The dealership would not let me apply the credit for the 00 top against an 02 top which they marked up 40% if I decided to purchase it outright. I could get the top from Ganley Honda for $850 then pay another $800 for frame modification. That would still cost me $950 over the 00 top and to me wasn't worth it. I dont have a problem with the 00 top and the shop I looked at will remove the plastic guides which casued the abrasion, and are not needed, and will sew a reinforcing piece of canvas in the area that was abraided for $75.00. My neighbor was experiencing some slight abrasion and took has car there for the modification and they did a great job.

What modifications are required to bolt an 02 top into an 00/01 car?
