And it is projected that funds for this program will run out in Sept/Oct.
Saw the newspaper this morning as I was walking to the car... headline read money was already gone. Have no idea if it was true, but...

CNN.com's main story earleir today said as much, but that they believed the offer would continue through the weekend, if not longer.

I would have traded my Contour in on something like a Cobalt, but it's rated too high MPG-wise.

i'm with you. i'd gladly trade my 9 year old toyota in for a newer daily driver.. but even 9 years later, the mpg isn't even close to the requirements of this program. what the heck was i thinking?

As Skip and I discussed on the phone, I was stunned the S was only rated at 20mpg combined. I remember the sticker on the car (back when the old measurement techniques were still being used) said 29/32, and even when the new measurements took effect the government sites said the S was still in the 26/29 area... I wonder how they come up with 20.

Dude, I'll go find my sticker, but I think you're high. I think I remember 20/25 mpg and mine wasn't an AP1 pig like yours. Mine's the leaned down version!

Ack! You're right, Skip... I just looked at my sticker and it also says 20/26 (so mines not as much of a pig as you thought ). Funny to see a destination charge of only $440... most cars I'm looking at now are $700+. Paid $34,345 out-the-door with 12.7 miles on the odo first year it came out, even while local Boston dealers were charging a $20k premium over MSRP. Now if they want me to pay over invoice I get upset
