Need help
Ok guys..I've done some searching and alot of reading and im trying to figure out what going on with the S. When I bought the car I bought it used from a Nissan dealership w/ 50K on the clock. Its a 2000 model.I noticed the day I got it that it was making a "clicking noise" in the rear. Looked and looked and couldnt find the problem. Thought it was probably something suspension related...no big deal. I've had it 2 months and the noise is still happening. From a dead stop....as I start off in first there's about 2-3 clicks..now it happens pretty much everytime I start and stop. Thought it could also be the Hub nut not torqued down to the new specs of 220lbs. There is no extended warranty on the car and Honda states that the Factory Drivetrain warranty is 3 years or 30,000 miles...we're past that!. Please tell me its not my Differential! Also when I start the car and let it warm up...I put it in 1st and it makes a "clunk" noise. PLease provide any info you guys think might be able to help me figure out what this could be...Im sure I'll just take it to Honda and pay to have them diagnos is. Also the guy who sold me the car no longer works at the dealership...and Im going to call the dealership and speak to the GM and see what he can do since they sold me the car in that condition(may be futile but im still going to try). Thanks in advance..sorry for the novel

My car "clunks" from N-1st and from 2nd-1st, but only when it's sitting still or moving slowly. I've heard of other people having the same noise. Apparently it isn't anything to worry about.

bringing the car back to them 2 months later to mention it had a problem since the day you bought it might be a tough argument. I would've guessed that dang hub nut, but I'm sure other people will have suggestions.

Retorquing the hub nut to 220 ft.lbs. is the cheapest, easiest starting point, but it may be too late. While the car says it has only 50k on the odometer, it doesn't say "how" those 50k were put on the car.

Retorque the nut. Drain and fill the diff and you can see if there are chunks in the fluid when you drain. That'll give you a starting point.
