Moving back questions
Guys (and gals) -
I might be moving back to VA (or MD, let's just say DC area) in the near future and I am wondering:
1) How late in the year do you drive your S2Ks?
2) Any special things I should know about S2K ownership back East?
I am currently in San Diego, so snow, salt, etc. is not even a thought. When I lived in VA last year, I had an Evo, but that's gone now. Am I ok with buying a 4x4 pickup for the winter and driving the S the rest of the year? The alternative is to buy either a new Range Rover Sport or a new Porsche Carrera 4. (I know, I know, but they are both sweet....)
Thanks in advance!
Chris

i drive mine year round..... i also have a durango 4x4 which i never drive if that gives you any ideas... if you happen to need to drive the S in the snow just get some snow tires and you'll be fine.. many people do it... as for the sand and salt .... i just do an undercarrige wash once in a while... i'll jack up the car and then wash the bottom of the car to get all that junk off..

Thanks for the reply. Do you get a lot of ABS kickback in the snow? My Evo's ABS went nuts even with snow tires and AWD. I seriously doubt I'll drive it year-round, but that's good to know it's possible.

if you drive it like you probably tried to drive your EVO in the snow...then yeah..

you'll be fine with snow tires.. many people here do it.... and you wont' have to worry about understeer.. it'll be the oversteer and you making donuts on the highway....
by the way i dunno how long ago it was since you've lived here but i can asure in the nova area the snow plowing is a lot better then it used to be....we had a couple days last year when we got like 8inches of snow or so.. and well the main roads were pretty much clear the whole time..

I was there in winter of '03 and there were a couple of storms that dumped a couple of feet. It wasn't bad at in the Evo, but the S is a lot lower... So I guess the short answer is that a 4x4 pickup wouldn't hurt.
Now, Carrera 4S or Range Rover Sport? Both are sexy, but I think the Rangy would get less attention from Fairfax County's finest...
