Does anyone have any experience with the courts in DC? I know they are strict about missing a court date. I just missed my appointment this morning and I'm contemplating on what excuse would be more valid for the court to move my hearing to another day. Since most excuses will not work, I am planning to tell them that my car just got plowed in by the snow truck last night and I could not dig it out this morning in time for my hearing. Any thoughts?

 

Check with the court but I think that would probably work. I am not sure that the DC courts were hearing anything other than emergency cases anyway. I know that was the case Tuesday and I think Wednesday.

 

Thanks for the response, I just hope they would make an exception to my case since we don't always get 24" of snow.

 

I missed a court time in Howard county once. I stopped by in the afternoon. They made me pay the fine upfront, but they did reschedule the date. There were no witnesses to the accident at the second court date, so I was found innocent by default. The court returned my fine!
