Direzzas are great. I have daily driven them in the last year. As long as you can tone your driving down when the temperatures drop in the winter they are fine to be used year round.

Lou, good to know about wet performance. How far along are you in the treadwear department?

If you can control your driving, I don't see how the Star Specs could be a problem in the wet OR cold. I put nearly 15k miles on mine before getting rid of them, and NEVER had any close calls, even through the winter. I've driven on them in 30 degree weather, but you just have to have some self control. They do get very hard and slippery in the cold.

As for the rain, I've pushed them very hard in it, and they do fantastic.

Yeah, just go slow in the rain or cold weather.

Thank you guys for all of your suggestions... since I am going to the dragon in the next 2 weeks, I think it would be best at the moment to stick with something I know...so I ordered the KDW2's again. I really appreciate your input and will use these suggestions the next time I order tires.

Skip,

The first track day on them seemed to wear the outside edges really bad. Once they were "shaved" the hard way, they seem to be wearing less. Overall, my expectation is they would not last very long with continued track events. That is why I purchased another set of wheels with r-comps. My rough estimate is they would last about 75% of what the Bridgestones would.

I believe the Tire Rack evaluation is very accurate. These things grip like crazy, but they are an "Extreme Summer" tire. They are a very soft rubber, for a street tire, and have pretty stiff sidewalls. If I needed new tires today, I would buy them again.

I DO NOT DD my S. If it is cold, raining or whatever, I drive a 2000 Chevy 4X4, so my tire selection is definitely skewed.
