Mid-A what tires?

Mid-A what tires?
Ok guys and gals I need new tires and I need opinions to help me make my decision. I've been driving on BFG KDW2's for the past 3 years and I really like these tires, however I'm wanting something new, maybe. I hate to drive in the rain (totaled 2 cars in it) so wet traction is very important. I also want something that is not going to wear out like the stock tires (KDW2's have a 300 tread wear).I'm a very aggressive driver and need a tire that I can trust to grip when I need it to. I've narrowed it down to 3 choices, please vote on the poll and give your opinion why you voted the way you did... Thanks.

Definitely the Star Specs. They blow the other two out of the water!! But it is also an 'extreme summer tire', while the other two are in the 'ultra high'/'max performance' classes.
Bill, I really think you should look into the Kumho XS.

I run Bridgestone Potenza RE960s... LOVE them! But they are all seasons... If you wanna go with summer tires, I've read and heard great things about the Dunlup Direzza Sport Z1s tho... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...rt+Z1+Star+Spec
Hope this helps!

KDW-2's and the Star Specs are two different tires. The Star Spec is a great tire, but I wouldn't entrust my car to them at half-tread in the r@!n. Can't speak about the HTR's.
Fact is, I'm not aware of a tire that can grip like nobody's business, yet still be great in the r@!n and last forever. There are compromises. Personally, if I knew I wouldn't be driving the car in wet weather, I'd buy the stickiest street tires I could find. But if I knew the car was my DD, I'd would go with something like the KDW's.
FTR, I actually used to run the KDW-2's in '05.

Bill, here's a thread I made when I first put the Star Specs on last year. It's long, but has tons of info and reviews in it...

I have Star Specs and I love them. I don't drive in the rain often, but haven't had any issues.
They're not designed for use in near-freezing temps though, so if you plan on driving in <40 degree weather, I'd get something else.

I have the Dunlops and really like them, but as previously stated, they are dangerous in cold weather. I would say anything below 50 degrees requires attention and below 40 is really asking for touble.
As for the rain, well I drove on them in the rain at VIR during the March event and was very surprised. The braking grip was much better than I anticipated and the cornering grip was good. When they lost traction in a turn, it was slow and recoverable. This was after I was passed by virtually every other car in the HPDE-2 group at least twice. I really didn't trust the tires at all in the rain until they proved me wrong.
Disclaimers: (1) I have a custom alignment that may have assisted the performance. (2) Your mileage may vary
