I will be going up Thursday as well (since as a group leader I need to prerun the course Friday). Lets organize a Thursday ride up, it looks like Skip, Dave and Dragon are all going up (all group leaders too). I would be up for a nice side road route (to avoid the Turnpike) if we want to run as a group up there, if not I could tag along behind Skips trailer. Any thoughts?

Not sure if I am going to be able to fit all my gear and two helmets in the S2000, so my wife might drive her WRX as well. How much gear can you all fit? 2 helmet in bags pretty much fills up the freaking trunk.
Yea, I'll be heading up on Thursday morning from Ellicott City. I think Mike and Sharon Loving are heading up Thursday as well (I THINK). I may be helping them transport some stuff and/or Mike Car, if he can find a trailer.

Has anyone chosen any routes yet? If we are meeting up, I expect I'll see you all some where around Frederick/Hagerstown area?

Deb,

Knowing that if you are in the loop that it will NOT be like the MAD DASH down to the WTD Run in April! Where we got left in the dust not once, but twice by the group that said they were going to be "moderate" )

Depending on the route and when your plan on leaving we may be interested in re-living last year. I will keep an eye out here and see when , where and how you plan on doing this. So put me down for tentative at this point.

^ Yes, Matt, I've found that "moderate" means "fast and furious" to some of us!! Like my group leader Jerry at FC last year, who I notice is leading a spirited group this time. Anyway, my plan is to leave at about 9:30 Fri morning (after rush hour, basically) to put me there mid-afternoon. Might be too early for some peeps who have to work...Anyway, I hope George (gfacter) can come up with a route that includes alot of backroads, no matter when you decide to go. How bout it, George??

What type of route is everyone looking for?

Avoid the Turnpike.....Yes
Backroads.................Yes

Can we assume a Starting point of Rte 81 and Rte 70?

I'm playing with the GPS mapping software this rainy Saturday morning....just to see what I can come up with.

Input please?

That sounds good Deb, I will work out a route.

It's a long haul so we will need to hit the highway most of the way or we will be driving 8+ hours. I laser happy MD, I don't plan on going much more than 10 over on the highway, if anyone wants to go faster they can lead.

Generally where is everyone coming from? (I am in Bethesda). We need to work out a meeting spot.

We will need to head out 270N, to 70W to 68W. From there work our way to I79.

George

Dragon,
I would like to avoid the turnpike BUT don't want to be on the road for 8 hours either. I think this is what Gfactor is looking for so I'll PM him and see if I can get his directions/route.

I compete with a autoX group were you have to drive on roads to get to the staging area so coming back I sometimes have my helmet on, funny thing is people don't seem to notice

Hmmm...well I drove back from Marietta, OH recently on almost all mountain and twisty roads (basically Route 50 all the way). Maybe one hour on the interstate. It took me 6 hours to Arlington. And that included driving rain from Winchester home. So I can't believe it will take 8 including backroads to Pittsburgh. But I could be wrong. I will investigate...
