May 15th gas out?
So i'be been hearing about this "gas out" on may 15, which sounds like it started as a myspace thing. The idea is that if no one gets gas on may 15th gas companies will loose 2,163,302,190.00, which is the amount of users on myspace multpied by an average of $30 a person to fill there tank. Thus causing an instant drop in gas prices. Sounds like a load a crap to me, what do you all think?

it means they all fill up on the 14th and cause a shortage.
if you want to make a change, everyone walks, rides a bike, takes public transportation..... for the rest of their lives.

More like they'll just charge more on May 16 and beyond to reduce the losses of the previous day.
People need to seriously stop complaining about gas prices, it's not all that bad. Go to Europe or Asia, and you'll find out gas prices here are low compared to over there.

When they have these gas outs, there is an increase in sales on the day before and the day after. These "gas outs" do nothing to hurt the oil companies, because people still drive. If there was a day where nobody drove, then the oil companies would lose money. Otherwise, occasionally, oil companies see higher profits when people organize these "gas outs."
Commuting with someone else, picking shorter routes to work, driving slowly and sensibly, and even using public transportation are ways you can hurt the oil companies.

yup, it's not going to work... people are just going to have to get gas sooner or later. meaning paying the gas companies...

I would love to pick a shorter route to work but the damn Potomac River always ruins it for me
