IIRC, the Chevy 2500HD is a very coveted truck- extremely reliable and tons of grunt to boot. Accordingly, prices on the used ones are not cheap.

Most likely 4-cyl. Not baggin'... just stating.
a couple are 4 cyl's but they are the older ones that i know of with the mileage. most of the ones i see with high mileage are 6 cylinders and are used for fleet stuff or delivery so they are a mixtures of highway and city but mostly city

Dan, I believe the stereotypical Dodge tranny problems are somewhat limited to non-HD models.

And early models. I think the newer body style(Mack truck style) started in '95.

almost always. i sold a couple 2500 diesels when i was in used cars and i know of one that has been back a couple times for issues but the extended warranty took care of it.

the only other non 1500 issues was one higher mileage 3500 diesel, just had a knocking trans but didn't real give him too much trouble....so far

Dan, my sister had a 4Runner for many years. Very reliable, but she never used it to really do anything strenuous.

3312,
are you serious or joking? I love dodge trucks thats why.
Do yourself a favor... go on Edmunds.com and do some shopping. It'll give you a barometer of prices on trucks. Honestly, I'd be willing to bet that you could get a sweet price on a used truck because of the gas prices. Even though the pump prices are currently lower than previous highs, they're not going to go much lower and sellers may have to wheel-n-deal.

true. they will tow but nothing to very heavy. 3500lbs on 4runners witha 6cyl and around 5k with a v8. the trucks are up around 6500-8k depending on 6-8cyl.

but you are right they are made for more reliable bullet proof solid chassis, performance and 4 whl drive system

until the new tundra comes out next year, any big time towing is all on the domestics. i just stress reliability too much

i'm going to bed. it's been fun

the market has gone down on them, meaning dealers are buying them cheeeeaaaaaap, but the mark up/prices are the same as before the "wholesale" market went down. more room to work them down
