Default Looking for a cheap truck

Well like the title says, I'm looking for a cheap truck so I can sell my s2000. My price range is 10,000 max. I would like it to have a v8 but i'm willing to deal with anything. I need some advice on make/model, and hopefully, some feedback with past owners. BTW i'm selling the S so I can buy a house in the near future. I thought a beater truck would come in handy (I move around A LOT). thanks guys.

do you really want a v8 gas guzzler for your DD? there are alot of high output v6's out there that are a little better on gas than a v8 and of course are cheaper. $10000 gives you plenty of options on trucks. i myseslf am a toyota 4x4 lover (yeah i work for toyota but there 4x4's are THE BEST handsdown).

you can probably buy a late 90's Tacoma for around $10000 with pretty good mileage on it. don't be afraid of close to 100k either. i've seen plenty of 300-400k mile tacoma's through the dealership here it's all in keeping the maintenance regular

good luck on your search dude

I'm not restricting myself to v8's. v6's are nice but I am afraid if 100k trucks/cars.

i would be worried about 100k on ANY domestics but toyota's and nissans fine. i have a 95 pathfinder v6 5 speed 4x4 that runs like a top and has 103k on it. i have seen at least 5 over 250k tacoma's in here for service and they run great. just regular maintenance and they are fine

I'll look into well maintained import trucks. what would I expect, in terms of real world MPG, with a v6 truck?

Not to get too redneck for you, but in Vermont they drive pickup trucks into swamps for fun. Toyotas were pretty much the only that you could pull right out and just drive off. They never seemed to rust and the engines just kept running. We used to call them nutless wonders. Not a heck of a lot of power in the tacoma but they just keep going. Oh I dont recommend it, but you can drive over brush fires with them too. (Yes we were bored a lot up there)

depending on the motor size around a 3liter will give you high teens to low to mid 20's usually. the only reason for that is the torque they produce
