I'm just going out on a limb here, but to sand it out and clear it will probably be around or under $500. A new bumper and paint usually runs about $600 for a lot of cars, so I can't see a simple clearcoating being more.

Should be a hell of a lot less than $500 for a simple clearcoat touchup... a new CF hood would cost less than that.

I have a TS hood. But as I it...I'm afraid I won't be much good to ya . Sorry!

And very sorry to hear your troubles. Of course all of us cringe at the thought of heartless vandals.

As for what it'd cost to re-clearcoat, first keep in mind that all shops are not the same. But even a decent shop should get you in at around $200-250. Mostly just about being able to do without the hood for the time the shop needs to work it in.

As for what would happen to your insurance if you report it... Well, first off (and you'd have to answer this yourself) your insurance deductible probably won't even be met out-of-pocket before the insurance company were to step up. So at $200+ you'd more than likely be paying for it yourself. But vandalism is vandalism. And it can't hurt to ask your insurance company...just do it anonymously if you're curious to know for certain.
