ISO apartments in Norfolk/VA Beach area
Posting this for a colleague who asks "Any good deals on apartments in the Norfolk/Virgina Beach area? Where are the good areas to live in the area?"
I'll direct him to this thread.
Thanks,
Warren

If hes from anywhere up here, he may be pleasantly surprised at how much more affordable real estate is.
Not quite sure about rental rates though. Definitely give a break down of what he needs/ would like to see himself in.

Here's some more info on what he's looking for:
"I'm looking for a apartment that is close to Woodis Ave. No more then a 30min drive from Woodis Ave. Safe neighborhood without many burglaries. Price range of $600-$700. Washer/Dryer."

I had never heard of Woodis Ave but I mapquested it - looks like it is right next to PETA in Norfolk.
Almost all of Hampton Roads is a 30 minute drive (or less) from there: Portsmouth, Norfolk (obviously), Virginia Beach, Hampton, Chesapeake, maybe Newport News if traffic is light.
$600-700 a month in rent is tough though - he's going to need a roommate. I think most single room apartments start around $800 and you really need to be closer to $1,000 for something decent - especially to have his own washer/dryer.
Maybe tenblade can say more about the area he lives in?

My friend was able to get a single bedroom apt out near Smithfield for 650 I believe. Its out in BFE though and far from everything. Very far. So far, I never even saw his place whenever I came down to visit fam and friends.

Yeah, Smithfield is way the fock out there. That's even worse than living in Suffolk (for distance). Not to mention the wonderful smells that come from the slaughter houses.....
