Ignition switch issues
So I've noticed recently that its getting harder and harder to get the key in the ignition. It almost feels like the key is catching somewere in the thumbler. Eventually after 5-10 minutes it turns over. Its getting really annoying. Is there a away to clean it out or lubricate it? I was thinking of spraying WD-40 in there. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys.

I see many views and no help. I am old and know of what I speak. You, or a previous owner, drove with a very heavy key chain which screwed up the ignition.
My wife had this issue with an old Accord. I tried to figure out why her car would die at random. After replacing most of the electrical components, it happened to me. I lifted the keys and bingo, the stinking ignition switch was shot.
Yes she carried about a half pound of keys and the bouncing on the road trashed it.
Sorry it isn't better news, but I think you may need a new ignition switch.

I tell people this all the time and wonder why not separate all the keys from the car key. Good luck with the repair.

I had to get a whole new ignition set. Lucky for me, SocalISmylife is setting a column, door locks, trunk lock, and ecu for a steal. The ignition switch and lockset is not replacable by itself. I got a quote from Honda and its was $600+ w/ parts, labor and reprogramming new keys. Unfortunately, Honda placed the ignition set on the column with almost rivet type bolts.
I almost did a DIY on how to remove the steering column but with the heat and my lack of patience, it didnt work out. The previous owner was a friend of mine that didnt treat the S well. After some TLC, the car is where it is supposed to be minus the ignition issue.
