Default how much slower should the car be with the AC on

ive tried searching on this subject, but could only find a little help. how many of you notice a drastic power loss on takeoff when you have the AC on. im used to a slight difference with my other cars, but the last couple days that ive had the top down with really hot weather and the AC all the way up, its been a drastic change. either i start like i normally do and the car just bogs, or i have to rev it up higher than im comfortable with and i feel like i might be hurting the clutch. just for anyone that might be interested, i have a AEM cold air intake and the car is stock other than that. im just wondering if it supposed to be like that or if there is soemthing wrong with my car. i just dont like it when i take off from a light and have a Geo Metro glued to my rear bumper the whole way with nothing i can do except cut off the ac.

thanks

Bingo! For all our peppiness (and flat-out top end), we are still owners of a 4-cylinder. And on days when its ultra-hot & humid and you're running the A/C, you might as well call it a 4-banger...cuz its not a torquey vehicle. Just before the light changes, punch that A/C button off and scaaaaaaaat! Then punch it back on again when you're up the road . I call my A/C button my "turbo boost" cuz of the way the F20C engine reacts when the A/C is NOT on

ok, thanks. . . just making sure because ive been doing the same thing(hittting the button at every light) i knew to expect some power loss, but i didnt think the car would have trouble even moving. guess i had better not try to take off on a steep hill with the ac on

I note a tremendous loss of power when the darn A/C is on. Now, if it is hot enough to need A/C, I don't drive the S (Bimmer time). What's the point of driving it if you can't have the top down and you have no power?

The few times I've driven with the AC on I've noticed that the compress disengages at wide open throttle. After a diversion into VTEC land, the air temp rises for a second, then gets cold again.

This is suprising but when i go to the track i always have the car off and the ac on to cool down between runs and one time i forgot to turn it off and ended up running a 13.7. THen I turned it off and ran a 14.0. Really weird. I myself don't feel any difference witht the ac on or off.
