Can anyone recommend a good site or sites or ways to find a technical job in the Northern VA area? I have a rather extensive resume (no college but a lot of experience and some good certs) I would like to find an entry level mangement position or a senior technical position. I can not get a security clearance (please do not argue this with me). I'm not really asking people if they know of an open position just asking of good ways to find one.
Thanks
(oh and to my co-workers who read this forum.....shut your mouth....yes....I know you read my posts because I monitor your computer. Yes, I am talking about YOU!)

Here is a link to all the jobs with Fairfax County government, some jobs may not pay the best, but the benifits are hard to beat. I am a heavy duty mechanic and I am very happy working for the county. hope it helps.

The online sites are fine, but contacts mean everything when looking for a job. I'd say be sure you've exhausted all of yours. You just never know what contact will lead to a job, so don't leave *anyone* out. I guess you are doing some of that by posting here. Also, you need to be sure your resume is top notch with *no* spelling mistakes, etc.
I see you have certs but no college. Depending on what level position you are looking for, I'd say try to take at least some college courses - preferably get a degree over the long term. DC is full of people with advanced degrees, so competing on that basis will be tough for you, all other things being equal. Good luck!!

IT admin can mean a lot of different things to different people. The best way to look at it is, if it's broken I fix it. All software, all hardware, all networking things, and everything in between. I'd like to get into IT security, but not enough experience to say so.

Thanks Ms. Perky. Fortunately A lot of the courses I take do count for college credits as well. I know that no college will limit me, but I have to find something based on what I have under my belt right now. I'll get there though

I've had some good luck looking for jobs on the secjobs mailing list on securityfocus.com.
It's not as easy as it used to be to break into information security, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I understand the clearance issue, but this is the DC area and most jobs here are gov't related so that can make it even harder.
